Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA) has been participating in TRC’s program since 2011. In the past four years alone, their one collection site has recovered 566 mercury thermostats! In October 2015 OCRRA and Covanta partnered to offer a mercury thermostat and thermometer drop off event. The event offered a $10 Lowe’s gift card to residents who turned in either mercury containing item. This event recovered more than 150 mercury thermostats in TRC’s recycling bin in one day.
