Maine and Vermont Incentive Update and Instructions

TRC has changed its $5 incentive program coupon system in Maine and Vermont to make it easier for customers. Check out our video for further instructions.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Our prior incentive program relied on you filling in a coupon for each mercury thermostat returned which is cumbersome.

Starting in 2017, when you recycle mercury thermostats at your local HVAC wholesaler, you only have to fill out one form and it is no longer necessary to mail in a coupon by using your own postage. Payment will still be administered when TRC receives the recycling bin from the HVAC wholesaler, so we recommend encouraging your wholesaler to return their bins in a timely manner.

All collection locations will be sent or have been sent materials to implement the new program. This includes:

• Clear plastic zip-loc bags. Customers will place their mercury thermostats (maximum 10 per bag) in a zip-loc bag along with the filled out coupon form.
• New two-part forms for the customer to fill out. Customers will fill the form out and include one copy in the zip-loc bag with the thermostats, and retain the other copy for their records.

The customer will place the zip-loc bag containing the filled out form and thermostats into the green TRC recycling bin. Once your collection location returns the TRC bin, TRC will process all payment forms and administer payment to customers. The bin will then return to the collection location with new materials to begin the process again.
